Teaching for Data Journalism Workshop 2020

I was honored to be a guest lecturer of Data Journalism Workshop 2020: an intensive capacity-building workshop on data-driven journalism. The workshop is organized by The Momentum, Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication Thammasat University, Sal Forest, Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), Punch Up, and DTAC during February 22th – April 4th 2020.

My session ‘What is Data? and Where is Data?’ (February 23, 2020 1 PM – 3:30 PM) focuses on spatial data:

  • What is spatial data?
  • Sample applications of spatial data to solve real-world problems
  • Need-to-know stuffs before working with spatial data e.g. map projection, visual variables, cartographic techniques
  • Exercise: working with COVID-19 dataset (from Kaggle) using Kepler.gl
